Job Description
Introduction
Our client is a privately owned hospital that primarily treats cats and dogs, though they occasionally see other species. They are currently seeking an experienced Associate Veterinarian and Medical Director to lead a team of two or three FTE doctors.
Working Hours
The medical director is expected to work 40 hours per week but some of that may be dedicated to the medical director role. They can also schedule additional working hours as they like. The clinic currently opens at 8 AM and appointments start at 9 AM. The last appointment is currently scheduled before 5 PM and the day usually ends by 6 PM. As
Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director's day typically includes a mix of surgeries and appointments. Appointments are 20-40 minutes long. Clinical responsibilities span general practice services such as surgery, dentistry, dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, nutrition, behavior, allergy management, and diagnostics. This position is available to experienced veterinarians only. At least three years experience is desired but we understand some candidates will have developed great skills in less.
Practice Details
The hospital is equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, digital dental x-ray, in-house blood machines, in-house urinalysis, a wet table, a dedicated surgery room, anaesthesia and oxygen equipment, and paperless medical records. They also partner with a travelling ultrasonographer, eliminating the need for in-house ultrasound, but in-house capability is desirable. As an independent practice, they offer personalized support and flexible career development paths, actively encouraging doctors to introduce new ideas and areas of interest. Partnership or part ownership from day one is a possibility for a motivated candidate. The candidate will be expected to help hire two more doctors.
Team
The practice currently has three technicians who rotate through reception. The team will expand with the number of doctors. Management of the office is currently shared with another clinic, but will also grow with the team.
Salary
Pro-Sal with a base starting at $110,000. Production bonuses are unlimited and typical for the industry.
